the need for creativity
Our essential nature and joy can get lost in our overculture which values productivity over process and outer development over inner experience.
At the Beehive, we support kids to follow their own unique creative interests. In art education, learning skills is actually easy. What's harder is staying connected to our own unique passions, creative joy, and self expression throughout our lives. So, the purpose of the Beehive is to support kids following their own unique creative impulses and teaching skills only as they need them to accomplish their own intrinsic goals.
Everyone doing this in a group setting is what makes these classes so unusual. The cross-pollination of ideas and skills brings far more richness and diversity than if everyone were doing the same thing. And the social joy that comes from kids creating so authentically and inspiring each other is another aspect of what makes these classes so unique, and for some kids, so important!
