Here’s a snapshot from a Wildcraft & Miniatures class to give an idea what it feels like...
(We introduce new materials and prompts as suggestions at the beginning of each class. The prompts are only there to inspire ideas.)
Last night we had 10 kids.
The prompt we offered was materials for potion making, towers, and circular structures.
This is what actually happened:
1 miniature diorama of a cute bedroom
1 miniature diorama of a garden with a bridge over a river and a giant butterfly flying on a wire above
2 felt wee people dolls
1 painted wood and styrofoam Minecraft structure
1 full sized fluffy yarn tail for a human to wear (yarn fluffed out with a cat brush)
1 embroidered felt cat stuffed animal
1 safety pin jewelry brooch with hanging chain and beads.
1 metal ‘scrapling’ creature made from costume jewelry bits and wire
1 paper mache shark
No one followed our prompts! 😂
Kids get more ideas from their own minds and each other than we could ever provide. The support to follow their creative impulses and the cross-pollination of ideas and social joy that comes from everyone doing this in a group setting is what makes the Beehive such a fun, busy, inspiring place to Bee!
Deep Thought...
What if more of our culture felt like this? What a beautiful world we could bee 🐝💛 🐝💛🐝💛
