Art Journaling is a fun art form that combines writing with mixed-media drawing, painting, collage, etc…with endless fun variations to explore: pop-outs, pockets, found object embellishments, embroidery, etc...The theme of this class is "Your Long Story." Your long story could include dimensions, memories, history, dreams, and spaces not usually included in the surface narrative of your life. Your long story could extend into the life of your ancestors, your culture, your cells, the land you live on or grew up on, or extend back in time to the birth of the universe! Or your Long Story could demand that your journal focus, like a laser, on one formative experience or time period that needs to be unpacked. It's entirely for you to explore.
Each class will introduce new mixed media materials, demos, and optional writing prompts, with time on either end for (optional) sharing with the group.
You'll be guided to attune to what wants to be expressed, what art materials you want to play with, to find your unique path into the potential creative exploration, play, and discovery that this class offers.
